Sometimes I get questions about having numbered links at the bottom of posts. What are those things? Since they don’t align with the Julian date of the year, it often confuses and annoys people, sometimes even me
Well, 48 days ago I started the 365 Challenge. For those of you who aren’t too familiar with it, it kind of started with Flickr.
You take a photo every single day for one whole year, and at the end of the year, you are able to reflect on your life in photographs. Some people choose to take pictures of things that happen in their life and surroundings (i.e. the car they rode in, what they ate for lunch, their friend they are with, the bowling alley they went to, etc) but since I am typically posting things like that anyway, I went with the portrait/self-portrait route.
Some call it conceited when you take so many photographs of yourself, but I call it a learning experience
Not all of the photographs I take are that great, quite honestly. There are a lot of nights I am in my pajamas with wet hair and make-up free and go “oh crap, I still need to take a picture!” and thus, those are the less flattering pictures. But I want these to be real, and honest. So far I have a good range of photographs (excited, annoying, one after a cry, no make up, just woke up, sleepy.. the list goes on) and I am excited to reflect on these after my year is up!
I’ve found in quite challenging to keep track of the dates of photographs if I don’t upload daily, and I have to go back and check the photograph date and my start date. It sometimes feels like more work than it is worth, but I know if I stick with it I will be glad I did at the end of my year!
You can go to Flickr and type in the term “365″ (or just click that link since I did it for ya!) and you will get an array of interesting photographs taken by other people. It’s really quite interesting and if you’ve got a good drink near you, it’s possible to get lost in these photos forever!
In case you’re a newbie or just don’t click those annoying link (don’t blame you!), here’s a re-cap of my challenge year this far:
