Sunday madness! And when I say “madness” I don’t mean it as the awesome madness that usually follows the words “Shoe Sale” or “Egyptian Cotton Bedsheet Sale”, rather, I mean the madness where you are slightly mad. Let me start from the beginning.
We woke up SO late again today, 10:30am to be exact, and while I felt really rested I also felt really pissed off that I slept in so late. I mean, half of the day has already been wasted! So frustrating. But then I thought I’d stop being a negative Nelly and said “well I got a lot of rest so that’s great”. Okay, moving on from that mini-dram. Once I sat up, I realized I had a killlleerrrr headache. I mean, did I drink two bottles of wine by myself last night and forget? Yeah, THAT type of headache. Once the hub bub and I went and got our coffee fix (along with a horribly fattening breakfast–Maple scones from Starbucks:
–nearly 600 calories with nothing to offer but sugar and carbs! But I enjoyed it because IT IS MAPLE GOODNESS MY FRIENDS), I decided I would finish the rest of the laundry. Did I mention we have a ridiculous amount of laundry for two people? Because we do. I folded clothes, hung up clothes, carried clothes downstairs, etc etc for and hour and a half. This wouldn’t be bad IF I HADN’T HAVE DONE THE SAME THING YESTERDAY! Geez. At this point my headache grew, which meant my complete madness grew, so I drank a Lemon-Lime G2 and took a shower. In between cleaning house, taking apart my bike to put the new tube in the tire, and making teriyaki chicken sandwiches for lunch (we ate them before I could snap ‘em!), I ordered some clothes from Champion USA (and my headache went away!) I decided to give their Nike Tempo Knock off shorts a go, and I bought two of the tops I talked about here, like Skinny Runner’s. I also got a new running skirt, which I am stoked to try out since I love the one I have now but I’m wearing it out!
After lunch I made my classic snack, one banana with one tablespoon (and a little water) of melted Reduced Fat Peanut Butter on top.
What’s left on my agenda? Well since today is a super exciting shopping, errand, cleaning day (sense my sarcasm?) we will be going to Home Depot to pick out paint swatches for our master bed & bath and kitchen, get some other not fun house junk, and I will be going grocery shopping. Yay. Just what I want to do in the heat when I’m feeling like a grumpelstilskin! (<–I don’t even know how to explain it!). Now I’m going to go take a quick run before I come back ready to create some new blog headers. But before I go, can I please share with you all THE MOST AWESOME THING IN THE WORLD? Ok, thanks, I think I will.
You all know how my favorite author is Emily Giffin?
Well, she is my favorite and I’m always hasselin’ people to read her books. I even got my friend Sera to go out and buy the first two books. Yeah! That’s how annoying I am! Her first book, Something Borrowed, was just made into a movie starring Kate Hudson, Ginnifer Goodwin, John Krasinski, and more hot celebs. Anyway, I’ve referenced Emily and her amazing books here, here, here, here, and here. Last night I commented on her Facebook status when she posted a picture from the old 90210 series. I told her I just met Tori and referenced my blog where she could see the pictures. Emily get’s hundreds upon thousands of comments on her posts so I figured mine would get lost in the sea of adoring fans and never actually be read by Emily herself. Understandable.
Then right as I was getting in bed last night, I decided I’d check my Facebook from my phone. And then I saw it. Emily commented on MY Facebook. MY FACEBOOK. ((Cut to me flying out of bed, down the hall, into the office and screaming like a mad person and forcing my husband to hear the story about a million times)). It is amazing. It has made my LIFE. Okay, not life since I’m only 25 but definitely made my year
To see a little screen shot compilation of Emily’s sweet, nice, amazing comments, CLICK HERE. Please, indulge me a little and click. I have already told a bazillion friends about this incident. I guess you have to be a huge fan of someone to understand this, or maybe an aspiring writer who puts all her free time into a blog that virtually no one reads, but either way, try and understand the amazingness of this moment!
And in honor of this great moment for me, I will be holding a giveaway of Emily’s book Something Borrowed, which is currently being made into a rom-com by Hilary Swank’s production company.
It will start on Wednesday and be open all the way until the following Wednesday to give you busy girls an adequate opportunity to win this entertaining, heartwarming, intriguing, hilarious book.
ANYWHO. My headache is gone so it’s time to hit the pavement and get some stuff done! Happy Sunday, peeeeeps
UPDATE:
Went to the junior high (ahem, my ALMA MATTER) and ran 8 laps around the track. I planned a short run so this felt good and I was happy with it. I chose 8 laps because I remember distinctly being told by my 7th grade track coach that “4 laps equals one mile EXACTLY” so I thought, ok lady, I’m putting you to the test. So I ran 8 in hopes of getting 2 miles under my belt and it turns out she was WRONG. Okay, barely wrong, but still.
Total Distance: 3.31 km (2.06 miles)
Total Time: 19:36
Average Pace: 10.16 km/hr
Fastest Pace: 14.84 km/hr
After the two mile run I did a quarter of a mile cool-down walk. My calves felt really tight. Any suggestions on ways to reduce muscle tightness and soreness?
