Recently, two of my friends have become engaged! Both of them, however, will be planning fall/winter weddings. What to wear to a winter wedding will have to wait for another post! Why? Because it’s summer NOW and I’m sure lots of you are preparing for outdoor summer weddings! I know I am!
Obviously you want to wear something classy and fancy, and preferably nothing all white as to not piss off the bride
Here are some easy, less expensive options!
Option 1:
A one-shoulder scarf dress with nude pumps. The scarf dress can be breathable material, which is good for those warm, outdoor weddings. In addition, a long necklace or a pair of diamond hoops can really make a simple $30 dress look very nice. And you can compliment the fancy look with a messy bun or a pulled back pony. Very nice and wedding worthy!
Both dress and pumps are from Charlotte Russe and for both of them, it’s under $75 and you can get good use out of each of these pieces individually!
Option 2:
Another one-shoulder dress! This time a shimmery gold dress with a light leopard print. There is a light cotton lining and a rayon/lycra shell, so this dress would be fairly breathable I think. Normally I stay away from too much leopard but with the muted gold color, I think this dress is the perfect summer wedding dress… not by itself, of course. Maybe go the gold route and pair it with gold pumps and gold hair accessories:
Or maybe nude pumps with a colorful clutch or necklace, if you’re looking for more of a color pop. Either way, this dress can be dressed up in many ways!
Dress, pumps and hair clips all from Charlotte Russe and all under $75!
Option 3:
Sans the casual bangles pictured on the model, this like-silk wrap dress (breathable!) would go perfect with a black clutch and strappy sandals. While this outfit would work for outdoors, it is probably for a fancier wedding with an indoor reception. Personally, I think a lot of black clothes/accessories look weird in summer but that could just be me! The way it would look best, though, would be at a fancier (more men in tuxes than not- type of fancy) reception.
I think these Betsey Johnson sandals are so cute and they would compliment a wrap dress perfectly and maybe even making it sexier..
This whole outfit would be around $180, because the shoes are $130! But the shoes could be worn again and the dress definitely could. Knowing Forever21 (where the top is from), after a few washes that dress would probably just be a blouse ![]()
There are lots of ways to look good at a summer weddings without being in an uncomfortable “formal” dress or sweating to death!
Which outfit would YOU wear?
