Luckily I got to catch up on photoshopping most of the afternoon on Sunday, which I hardly ever get enough of anymore. As I mentioned before, I am trying to get into making event invitations but also, anything else that you would typically purchase personalized and pre-printed. Examples of this would be recipe cards, non-formal name plates & name tags, birthday party invites, announcements, and much more. But while searching for good brushes, example invitations, and pretty fonts, I found a really cool tree brush. That lead me to creating the picture below, which is a combination of paint brushes and bucket gradients. Not complicated but I just wanted to make something slightly eerie
Now all it needs is the silhouette of a coyote howling at the moon! Just kidding. Okay, I also tried my hand at ideas for vintage looking stationary, which I would totally use if I could find 1. a really good design I liked and 2. an awesome cardstock type of paper that was strong yet soft enough to be usable for a plain snail mail letter. So I only did one of this, since I realized that the only stationary people purchase today is personalized. I like monogrammed stationary, too, but this pattern I used as a border just didn’t seem to go too well with monogrammed designs.
I like the parchment color of the main writing surface I just don’t know if there is an adequate color match of paper out there. I’m sure there is something quite close, though. I’m not super into pink (although based off my blog you’d think I was) but this chalky pastel pink just worked with the parchment color. I liked it.
Does anyone use recipe cards anymore? I don’t even think so but… they’re a cute gift idea for someone who is getting married or just bought a new house. I don’t know that I have any recipe cards but if I did I might actually use them, as I have a drawer full of loose recipes! Oh and I don’t know a Cecilia Sharp but it’s much more fun to put a fake name than to be obnoxious and write my own name on everything!
Hmmm… so what else should I try to make? Or should I just try to do tons of different versions of each? Input, please!
