Vegas Vacation is over!

The following post was written last night and I lost it but then… recovered it! Woo! So here it is, written by yesterday me. Smile

Hello from home again! I don’t know if I previously mentioned this but Saturday morning Matt and I left for Las Vegas to spend the weekend there celebrating my sister’s 30th birthday. Today is her actual birthday so let me say, happy birthday Lindsay!

Saturday morning we woke up early, cleaned, packed, and got things taken care of before leaving.

IMG_20110806_082553

Bathroom self portrait before leaving for a small, local airport.

Our flight got delayed about 2 hours, so there was lots of waiting (with my parents). And waiting means having people take pictures of you, or eat. That’s pretty much the two main things I do when I’m free Smile with tongue out

IMG_20110806_102010

When we finally boarded, I realized I was flying in a sardine can. Seriously, that had to be the smallest plane ever.

IMG_20110806_120409IMG_20110806_133252

And there was a really annoying lady behind us bitching about not catching her shuttle in Vegas because the flight was behind. And she was talking about it forever before hand, too. It’s like, lady, do you want the plane to be safe or do you want to potentially die to catch a $12 shuttle? Ugh, people can be annoying sometimes.

Once we got to our hotel—we stayed at The Cosmopolitan because that is where our group stayed—we checked out the balcony and sweet bathroom. (I took tons of photos but am too lazy to take them off my other camera right now!)

IMG_20110806_190414

IMG_20110806_190528

Even though it was hot out, I somehow got kind of cold (AC in the room too low, maybe) and was fighting the goosebumps in the above picture. I realized when I uploaded these to my laptop that I must have been flexing because I was cold because the other one’s look dumb, like I’m trying to suck in only, you know, with my legs.

IMG_20110806_190540

Although if I was going to fake/suck in for pictures, I’d wear a long skirt to cover my thight chub. Whatcha gonna do about it? Winking smile

IMG_20110806_190337

It was a great first night. We gambled a little drank a little, walked around the hotel, and relaxed. For dinner we bought pizza by the slice at a little pizzeria in our hotel.

IMG_20110806_203228

I had two slices the size of my face (almost) and that’s big! That’s why Sunday morning started off with a trip to the gym! There I ran 2 miles and biked 3 miles, in addition to around 1/2 mile or so on the elliptical. We wanted to work out all three mornings but when we found out it was $15/person/day, we cut that down to 1 day. $30 to work out was ridiculous but we did it because we’d rather pay than skip! Winking smile

The gym in our hotel, aside from being pricey, was very nice! Didn’t love the bikes and ellipticals but the free weights and weight machines were very nice.

After the gym we got breakfast, ate it out at a longue area, then enjoyed the rest of our coffee on our balcony. Nice morning!

IMG_20110807_080603

I had my first black and white cookie, by the way, and I absolutely loved it! Probably not as a breakfast choice (heh..) but then again, it was pretty damn good Open-mouthed smile Seriously! Moist and googey and oh that chocolate topping was soo good. Yum.

Need to move on now!

IMG_20110807_082622

Sunday we shopped and gambled, both unsuccessfully.

Lunch was a win, though:

IMG_20110807_121133

And so was my afternoon snack:

IMG_20110807_135608

Feast your eyes on $66 worth of alcohol, my friends. (The two red ones were ours). They good. Not $66 good but it’s Vegas. You have to.

We then met up with the “birthday party” (see what I did there!) and went to dinner at The Sugar Factory.

IMG_20110807_174812

My sister got some drink that looked like this:

IMG_20110807_180418

Nuts, right? I don’t think she drank the whole thing because that wouldn’t have been smart! But she said it was good. And strong. Everyone tried it and confirmed!

After dinner we went to my sister’s room where she got her cake:

IMG_20110807_202710

IMG_20110807_202848

IMG_20110807_202942

We watched the water & lights show at the Bellagio from the balcony in their room, visited, enjoyed the view, and then headed back out for a bit before calling it a night.

IMG_20110807_203539

IMG_20110807_203552

IMG_20110807_203645

The next morning we gambled and did some shopping before checking out of our hotel, taking a taxi to the airport and heading back home.

IMG_20110808_151337

IMG_20110808_151357

Same tiny plane and this time the pilots left the sliding doors to the cockpit open and we watched them fly the plane the whole time. Some of the stuff they did made me want to land immediately but I guess it was all legit since I’m alive Winking smile

IMG_20110808_151451

shot_1312841422725

After we got home, I unpacked all of our stuff and Matt and I relaxed with the dogs. Now it’s just a low key night and preparing to get back to the real world tomorrow! BOO to vacation being over! Sad smile

The Monday that was actually Tuesday

shot_1312555313126

I am beginning to think my haircut makes me look like I am six years old… Open-mouthed smile

Wow, I wrote about a year’s worth of stuff about my long weekend to Las Vegas and then I lost it all. You know how much that sucks? A LOT. So forgive me if this post is written in an angry,  impatient tone. At least now you’ll know why Smile with tongue out

Today I ate a really yummy Weight Watchers meal:

IMG_20110809_114803

IMG_20110809_114917

It was really filling and I think it was 390 calories. More than most other LC’s or WW meals but still low calorie. I had it with a few low calorie Ritz crackers and some iced tea. It was a good lunch!

I had a technical difficulty today:

IMG_20110809_125704IMG_20110809_125745

My left shoe rubbed the foot raw in one tiny little spot. These shoes were fairly comfortable last time I wore them so I don’t know what the deal is.

Since nothing else exciting happened to me today (3 miles at the gym but it wasn’t exciting) I’ll just post my sentence for the day:

IMG_20110809_125649

Heh, pretty good sentence of the day for a (mine not yours) Monday, huh? I thought so Smile

Now.. since I’m still too annoyed to recap Vegas again, I’ll just post a few pictures from the weekend:

Thursday (in pictures with some words too)

IMG_20110804_072331

Today was an amazing Thursday. Why? Because my morning started off with Starbucks, brought to me by my nice husband. Also, I rode 7.20 miles on the bike at the gym (and walked two more!), I ate a yummy pizza lean cuisine today for lunch, and my amazing friend Mandy let me borrow tons of shoes and jewelry for my weekend in Vegas (thanks, love you!) Smile

ALSO… I got my roots done.

IMG_20110804_072228

IMG_20110804_191024

Woo! I was so happy to get my roots done I almost cried. No joke. I even had a nightmare that my appointment got cancelled, haha! I got bangs again because, well, why  not? Winking smile

Here’s my day in pictures, just to change it up!

Those are the highlights, and that’s no pun intended (considering the last picture!) Open-mouthed smile

Hope everyone had a good Thursday. I am SO glad tomorrow is Friday. Then Saturday it’s VEGAS here we come!

Almost free

Tuesday I was too busy to blog and since my readership is basically zero, I figured it’d be okay. Smile with tongue out So here’s yesterday in a nutshell.

I started out good. One thumbs up (and a goofy face) is better than no thumbs up, right?

IMG_20110802_073912

Then on my way to work I got stuck behind a dumb junky truck and my travel time went from 4 minutes to 7 minutes. Hey, that’s 3 minutes I could’ve been doing something else.

IMG_20110802_074233

IMG_20110802_074239

Yes, being behind that truck made me flare my nostrils with frustration only a morning without coffee could set the tone for! Once I got to work my day was like every other day.. not notable or picture worthy!

After work I vacuumed my entire house (doesn’t that—minus the sweat pouring off your body like buckets in the 95 degree heat), showered, got a quick bite with Matt and went to Panera to meet Kerin & Mandy to stuff wedding invitations for Kerin’s upcoming wedding. Didn’t take any photos of us (I suck) but snapped a few of the invite scene:

IMG_20110802_200417IMG_20110802_191521

It was lots of fun! Always fun to do wedding stuff and always fun to see your friends. So I started good and ended good on Tuesday. Win!

Today.. Wednesday. I woke up super sore from my strength work out yesterday. I did squats, among other things, and I’m really paying for it today. Oye. Getting up from going pee is hard work! TMI but true Smile with tongue out

It was brutal doing cardio at the gym this morning. I got through it somehow but I promise you, it sucked. My mileage this week so far is 16.50 miles, because I covered 7 miles on Monday, 4.50 miles on Tuesday and 5 miles today. Haven’t got on the bike that much this week since my run tired me out yesterday and today I was pretty sore. I plan to bike tomorrow morning and get some miles made up along with some low impact cardio for my knee.

ANYWAY.

Today, work sucked. Or, it was normal I guess. Something like that Smile It was stalker Wednesday so I got stalked, of course.

IMG_1786IMG_4426

Look at me, all coooool with my TWO monitors and what not Smile with tongue out

IMG_20110803_125057

People at my work have been making jokes about how bad my roots are, to which I reply, “Haha, good one” or “My bad roots are still better than your annoying voice—and I can bleach my roots.” You know, whichever pops out first Winking smile But TOMORROW after work I am FINALLY getting my roots done. Last time I got my hair done was when I got bangs back at the end of March.  So I’m way over due. It will hard to get through the work day tomorrow knowing sweet bleach is waiting to rid me of these roots! Open-mouthed smile Haha!

I’m off to watch more Mad Men before bed.

Take care Smile

5 Mile Monday

IMG_20110801_071447

Monday started off with a stomach ache. No, I take that back. Monday started off with a weird dream that turned into a nightmare which woke me up and then I realized I also had a stomach ache. Lovely, no? I think it was from the sunburn I got on my legs from the lake yesterday, but it could’ve been an “I don’t wanna go to work” stomach ache. I get those, too Smile But I’m leaning toward aftermath of my burn.

IMG_20110801_123130

(Don’t know if you can see the burn in this photo, but I thought I’d try)

After my shower this morning I dried my hair and went to straighten it when GUESS WHAT?! My flat iron died. Stupid! I just got it like 6 months ago, too. So it was a BUN kind of day… and not a flirty, cute bun, either. More like a full-on old lady bun with my split ends hangin’ out. Like so:

IMG_20110801_093810

Try not to be too jealous, ok? On my lunch break, Sera and I ran to Target where I purchased a brand new flat iron. This time I went for the most expensive one they had, which was a Chi and it cost $107.something after tax. I haven’t used it yet but here it is:

IMG_20110801_190233

IMG_20110801_190254

They didn’t have any in black so I had to choose between pink or teal so I chose pink. The teal was an obnoxious, slap-you-in-the-face teal that I really didn’t want to have to stare at longer than one second. So I opted for the pink, as you can see. I really hope it works good and lasts me more than 6 months Sad smile I have a curling iron that I’ve been using since 2005! Now that’s quality!

Anyway, I moved on from the flat iron breakage this morning and went about my day as usual. I had a double fiber English muffin for breakfast with 2 tablespoons sugar free jam and 1 tablespoon peanut butter. It twas yum.

IMG_20110801_092011

It kept me pretty full. When lunch rolled around I was hungry but not starving, which I usually am, so I’d say the double fiber English muffin ranks #1 so far for filling breakfasts! They were 2 for $5 at Safeway, too, so double score Smile

Lunch was a Lean Cuisine and some RF Ritz:

IMG_20110801_120541

I ate it all. Even double licked the fork to make sure I got all the faux-cheesy goodness Open-mouthed smile I planned to hit up the gym again this evening to run, so I knew I’d need to refuel in the afternoon to be able to attempt a run. Since there was no protein around, I got the next best thing: coffee!

IMG_20110801_150724IMG_20110801_150732

I got a tall, Mocha Coconut Light Frappucino with an added shot of Espresso. It was delicious, and gone in 10 minutes. And the extra caffeine boost worked: I got to the gym with a little energy Smile

IMG_20110801_165940

I had planned on running 6 or 7 miles today—I even brought the supplies I require (diva runner, here!) for a 7 mile run but guess what? When I got to the 4.50 mile mark, I lost all steam. Completely. Finishing the 5 miles was hard. Very hard. Not mentally but physically. I just had nothing left to give. I am an itsy bitsy tiny bit bummed that I didn’t run farther but overall I’m really happy that I did 5 miles and I set a PR at that. So WOO HOO.

For this run I did the first two miles at a 6.8 pace with a 0.5 incline but starting with mile 3, I dropped the incline to 0 and dropped the speed by 0.1. I know what you’re thinking—does that extra 0.1 even make a difference? Yes. My knee needed that extra 0.1 and no incline. Trust me!

IMG_20110801_170822

I left drenched in sweat but happy to be done and glad I stuck to it.

IMG_20110801_171402

See that light gray spot on my tank top on the left side? Yeah. That’s dry. The rest was drenched. I actually took off my tank at home and rang it out. True Story.

Ever feel like you sweat a lot for a girl? I do. All the time. Matt says everyone probably feels like that. What do you think?

IMG_20110801_170749

The high light of my day was probably watching the Crossfit Games on Xbox/ESPN with Matt. Those are some really buff girls! Anyone catch it? Pretty nuts! It makes me want to get back into Crossfit. Or take a nap. Either one.

Hope everyone had a good Monday. What was the high point of your day?

P.S. I am getting my roots done this Thursday.. I am soo excited! Like Matt told me today, it’s a big week for my hair: new flat iron AND getting my horrible roots done! This Shelby will reappear Thursday evening, thank goodness!:
