When I was growing up, I had one of those moms that really did everything she could to make sure I was not only taken care of but also happy at all times. She helped me with homework, read to me, surprised me with things I loved, took me shopping, spoiled me, taught me manners, gave me advice, made me feel like everything was okay, protected me, held my head up when I was sick, took care of me when I couldn’t take care of myself, and never gave up on me when I gave her (and my dad) tons of reasons to do otherwise. No matter how many quarrels we had as I was growing up (and especially during those terrible teenage years), my mom always had my back and worked her hardest to give me (and my sister, of course) the best that she could. At her core–no matter what other things are going on–she always means well and wants the best for me. That is what being a mom is all about. Unconditional love.
So Happy Mother’s Day to my mom, Matt’s mom, and all the other moms out there that do their best and give their all to their kids… we may not know it at the time, but when we grow up, we realize and we appreciate it! We really do!
I hope everyone out there tells their mommy how much they love & appreciate them today. And maybe buys them a nice gift certificate and makes them lunch, too
