Today is June 1st and even thought it rained off and on all day here, in my mind the 1st of June always means summer! And summer means time to go hard on working out!

Inspired by Katie’s goal to cover 100 miles in the month of June, I decided it was time to set some goals for myself, too. With that said, here are my fitness goals for June:

• 1 hour of cardio / 5 days per week
• 2 of my 5 hrs per week of cardio to be running and/or hiking (incline walking on treadmill)
• On my 2 days off from the gym, do at least 30 minutes of cardio in a non-traditional way (i.e. walk the dog, walk to the grocery store, Jillian Michaels DVD, beach volleyball, etc)
• Have an intense ab work out 2x a week
• Do one Crossfit-style work out once a week

If some of you are thinking those goals aren’t as difficult as they could be, you’re right. However, in the last month I have regressed on my fitness greatly and am working my way back in. Hopefully when July comes around I will be able to challenge myself much more!

I also want to set some personal goals for the month of June as well. I thought about this all day and decided I’d set a variety of goals, rather than the typical all-blog oriented goals that I normally set. There are, however, a few blogging goals snuck in there

• Take more photographs / work on photography skills
• Blog once a day, every day, for the entire month of June
• Cook at least 4 dinners at home during the week (ideally more but let’s start with 4!)
• Only eat out at lunch 4 times a month
• Donate to a charity
• Work on “Going Green” more at home

These all sound fairly easy as I type them but with a full time job, a house to run, working out, baseball, tutoring, and volleyball… I think it will be fairly challenging!

Glee Fan Art

I HATE Glee.

I loathe Glee. I used to like Jane Lynch because she was hilarious in The 40-Year-Old-Virgin but man, I cannot follow her to the dark-side that is Glee.

I hate the term “Gleeks” and I hate it when people reference themselves as a “Gleek.”

I think the premise of the show is alright but I just don’t like all the fakeness–the same reason I hate shows like Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill. It’s so not real. The dialogue is just too much. And I mean too much in a bad way.

I hate the singing and dancing. It would be OK if it was a musical but for a TV show I just don’t like it. It feels wrong. It feels Disney, even though it isn’t. It’s like a weird, unfunny, super cheesy adult Disney without any of the good stuff that “adult” usually means Just kidding about that last part!

And I’m also not a fan of Glee trying to force real musicians into coming onto the show. Leave them alone. Not everyone cares about TV, much less this one show.

And I really dislike the main cast. Sure, they might be lovely people in real life but all of their characters annoy me.

And I know all you Glee fans are going to have your panties in a bunch over this post but whatever, I GETS TO SPEAK MAH MIND ON MAH BLOG!

Although Matt and I do not have cable, we still watch a variety of television shows on Netflix, Apple TV, and the internet. Here are some of my favorites:

2009 Cast of The Office

The Office. I have watched seasons 1-5 about 4 times each and I never stop laughing or finding new hilarities! I haven’t watched any of the new season because I’m waiting for it to be on DVD so I can watch them all in one weekend, haha. Seriously!

Parks and Recreation Season 2 Cast

Parks and Recreation. It’s hilarious. Every one on the show is good in their own way. As you can see, I have a thing for comedians who star in TV shows. Just wait for my next pick.

Louie starring Louis CK

Louie. It’s on FX, although I have never watched it there. I’ve only watched it via Netflix instant streaming and it is HILARIOUS. Don’t know if it’s as dirty/NSFW on TV as it is on Netflix but man, I’ve laughed so hard I’ve cried many times. I love me some Louis CK and was sad to see him leave Parks and Rec!

There are others (like Jersey Shore!) but those are probably my favorite three.

Don't Stomp Down or the Hood Pops Up!

I just want to stomp down on this! Yeah, I know it would pop the hood but I’ve never stepped on it and I just want to!! I eyeball that sucker everytime I get in the car but never have the guts to do it. Probably better that way

White Straped Wedges with Brown Polka Dots

Yes, I am already looking for summer shoes! Ugh, I cannot wait to stop wearing jeans and get back to SKIRTS!.. except at work ;( I love wedges and I love strappy shoes, so these are perfect. They are from Charlotte Russe and they are $35.50. When it comes to certain shoes, I am usually wearing of such a low price. In my experience, shoes honestly are more comfortable, better for wear, etc once you hit at least the $60 mark. And this is coming from someone with lots of shoes so trust me, it seems to be true! And I’m not a label snob either, I’d never spend $500 on a pair of sandals! Stupid! Buut I’d try these.. since they’re so cute.

Brown Leather Sandal with Cork Heel

These seem very versatile, like they’d go with nearly any summer skirt & top, or dress. I like them a lot! They are also from Charlotte Russe and they cost $35.50 as well. Both of the sandals I’ve listed so far come in multiple, fun colors. Check ‘em out! Next on the dreaming of list…

Blake Lively, I Love You!

Whoops, how’d that get in there? Oops.. Back to the shoes!

Leopard Espadrille

I think these shoes would be really cute with a red or black summer dress. They seem like they’d ever so slightly dress up an ordinary summer dress, don’t they? I don’t own a lot of leopard stuff because I think sometimes it can come across as cheap but I really like these! They are so cute! They are also from Charlotte Russe and they are also $35.50. On their website they are called “Leopard Print Knotted Bow Front Slingback Cork Wedge.” Umm, how ’bout lets NOT add every single detail of the shoe to the shoe title?! I hate that!.. But I still looove the shoes

Brown Belt

I don’t often do the whole “belt” look but I like this one. It’s not a cincher belt, which I really like but don’t own. It can be worn with jeans, or it can be adjusted to be worn over a flowy top. Side note: yesterday I watched this movie:

Going the Distance with Drew Barrymore & Justin Long

And not only did I think the movie was really cute and fun but I also really liked Drew Barrymore’s character’s style! I’m not usually a fan of this style but she looked adorable throughout the whole movie! And the above belt reminded me of her style in that movie! Have you seen that movie? Did you like her character Erin’s style?

Soft Fedora

I know, I know. Fedoras are usually really douche-y. The people who wear them are Kevin Federline and the 2008 Cheeto-eating Britney Spears. But sometimes they can be cute. (And by they I mean the hats, not Kevin & Britney! Ha!) The above, soft Fedora, in a natural color, looks really cute. Maybe pair it with some skinny jeans, a blousy floral top and some gladiator sandals and you’ve got a killer outfit for a day on the boardwalk or even for an outdoor lunch date with a girlfriend? I like it!

Coach Madison Embossed Python Carryall

Man, looking back on a lot of my choices lately, I think it’s fair to say I’m going through an earthy & tan phase!! Ha! Anyway, I love this Coach purse to death. Back in the day, my friends I and used to buy purses based on brands but then I got a brain and realized it doesn’t matter what the brand is, as long as you like it and it is a good value! This purse would probably last a long time but it’s also $600 and for me, that’s a bit much. It is a Coach purse, which, in my experience has proven to be a good brand, but still. I think I could find a similar looking purse at Macy’s for half the price! Sure, it may not last quite as long but I think I’d like it just as much!

Silver T-Strap Wedge

Another pair from Charlotte Russe. I don’t know how often I’d wear these or how comfortable they’d actually be but I like them! They are cute and I love that pewter-silver color. Cute, cute!

I always buy my shoes from Endless.com so I am uneasy buying things from new places.. the fit, the wear, the sizing, etc.  Who knows, maybe I’ll be adventurous and try something new?

Goal #1: Eat Less Pie!!!!!!

Doesn’t the first day of a new year just feel good? Like, it doesn’t matter how many brownies you ate at work, how many chips you downed at a party, how much you drank, how little housework you actually did… none of it matters because it’s a new year and a fresh start. You can use the symbolization of this time to your advantage and be who you want to be!

Okay, enough cheesey stuff! I do mean it but still, too cheesey for me.

Along with some other things, here are just some of my 2011 Goals (and no, they aren’t resolutions because that puts a weird pressure on ‘em, and, oh yeah, I don’t like ‘em ):

1. Write on my blog at least 6 days a week all year.
2. Read at least 12 books I’ve never read by 2012. (Sounds easy but I don’t have that much free time!)
3. Lose 20 pounds. (Note: not by dieting but by smarter portion control and common sense!)
4. Work out 5 days a week; do at least 30 minutes of cardio 6 days a week.
5. Stay in better contact with family members.

Naturally there are about 5 others but I picked the most exciting to share, trust me. The others are even more lame!

Day 1 of the New Year I knocked out 4 of the 5 above; I worked out, talked to a few family members, blogged, and started readin’ a new book. Woot!
