The A’s lost to the Texas Rangers (I think) and I think the score was 9 – 1 but I couldn’t be certain! We tail-gated before the game for about an hour and then we did another 2 hours after the game.. we didn’t get home to our house until 1:30am! That’s late for us since we’re usually in bed by 9pm!

The rest of the weekend has been spent catching up on sleep… and cleaning house (lots of that). And having the dogs squeak the crap out of their new toys:

When you give them the look like “really?” they just look at for a  second to make sure you don’t have another toy or any food and then continue to squeak their toy to death. It gets pretty annoying after, say, 36 seconds. Trust me.

I just got done watching these movies:

I’d seen them both before but thought I’d give them another go. Liked them just as much as I did the first time! My Cousin Vinny always makes me laugh  

Now I’m on backrub duty for the night so I must go!

Workout:

This morning I chose to run because leaning over a bike sounded awful. I woke up with a headache—just to put that into perspective. I ended up running 4 miles which took about 35:42. Saturday I ran 4 miles in 36:19. Didn’t shave a full minute off but time is time, people. I’m counting it as a mini-win.

I then cooled down another half mile and ended up walking 2.50 miles on my breaks at work today to bring my total mileage for today to 7 miles. I plan on doing light cardio and strength training tomorrow but Wednesday I may get 20 miles (before & after work) on the bike. I’m hoping but we’ll see  

Work:

Standard. Sat at my desk all day and thought about how tired I was and how much I wanted to get my roots done. Seriously. I missed my last hair appointment because I was sick and now my roots are soo bad. Thankfully I am going in next week but still. I’m getting antsy!

After Work:

Watched this:

Kinda creeped me out right before bed to be honest! It wasn’t what I expected (you know when you don’t really expect anything but you still are somehow expecting something? LOL) but I liked it. Gerard Butler is easy on the eyes in this one Matt’s friend recommended it and it was streaming on Netflix and voila! Movie night!

Over the weekend I also watched The Fighter in addition to Arrested Development, which I’ve seen like, 5 times through

Now I’m going to go take a hot shower and get into bed with Atonement (for the 3rd time) because that book is amazing. (The movie was good for a book-to-movie thing, but the book is still better!!)

1. Vinny is still having accidents. Normal and discipline related accidents, so he can’t be on his own for too long without a check up. And ever since he broke out and took Leon with him last weekend, he’s been doing a lot of this:

Yes, that is a tunnel to the neighbor’s backyard where Vinny and Leon hung out all day on Wednesday. Nice.

2. Leon is BFF’s with Vinny now but with the 3rd dog in the mix, he’s absolutely positive she’s taking his place. So there’s a lot of drama and neediness taking place.

3. The dog we are dog sitting (pictured above) is a good dog but when my dogs get crazy, everyone gets nuts. She has been tramped, edged into the pit, stepped on and harassed NON STOP since she got here. I think when it’s bed time, she’s happy to get away from the bullies Anyway, for the first few days until they were fully “acquainted” with one another, they had to be watched non stop.. we had to make sure there were no pees, bites, etc. But they all get along now and she holds her own very well. And now, 4 day into it, they are okay to roam without me creeping behind them. Thus, a chance to blog

So what’s new? Matt and I just finished our third week of morning work outs and it’s been great. I’ve also been doing some biking and running on the side, which has been nice.

It’s been really hot here lately so the outdoor time is also earning me a tan. Or a sunburn.

Okay, those aren’t tan lines from running alone. Not entirely. They are also tan lines from swimming at my MIL’s house over the holiday weekend. But still. Running in the heat gives you a feeling like you’re going to puke and keel over, but it also gives you a tan. Hey, what a perk.

The last couple of weeks at the gym I have alternated cardio in these forms: hike/jog, constant jog, bike, and bike/run. With all said and done, I estimate to have covered 17 miles, which isn’t bad. It would be better if I hadn’t eaten my body weight in hummus and blondies, but whatever. The previous week I did more like 26 miles but because it was the week before the holiday and I had a horrible sinus infection, I didn’t document much of it. It was mostly running, though, I remember that much!

I have been making some personal changes lately that have me a bit stressed which has also contributed to my feeling of never-ending physical and mental fatigue. I work out in the morning and work and that was it. The last week I managed to keep the house clean but did seriously nothing else. I am hoping this week I can get back on track and get some energy back. Although lounging with the doggies hasn’t been bad..

Matt and I were joking that the chaos that came with having three dogs running around was perhaps a look into what parent hood might be like… and it reinforced something I already knew: I’m not ready! I love my time to myself. With three dogs babies there is no reading when you want, editing photos for hours, taking long walks, watching movies, naps, etc. You are on your feet nonstop! It’s tiring to think about!

Anyway, on Friday night matt and I went to the movies and saw Horrible Bosses, starring Jason Bateman (Arrested Development, The Switch), Jason Sudeikis (SNL), Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell, and Kevin Spacey. It was absolutely hilarious! I loved it!

I thought it was much funnier than The Hangover, actually. Although I was never one of those people that thought The Hangover was the  funniest thing on Earth. I always said it was funny but not hilarious. This movie, however, was so super funny! I loved it! I’m a huge Jason Bateman fan (love me some Arrested Development and still can’t figure out why that show didn’t make it!), I adore Jason Sudeikis and I thought Charlie Day was very funny in Going the Distance. And these three played off of each other so well in this movie. And Kevin Spacey was great, too! Everyone did a great job. And let me just say: if Jennifer Aniston took more roles like this (risky, dark comedy- style) I think her fan base would expand greatly! I say go see this… I’d see it in theatres again!

The rest of my weekend was spent napping, doing laundry, and editing photos. I spent like, 45 minutes on one photo and then PS3 force closed/crashed and I seriously almost lost my mind. I did a careful selection for 45 minutes then poof. Gone. I should’ve saved but still… sucks. Major suckage.

This morning Matt and I walked the dogs around the backyard to get them to pee and I snapped a cool picture of Vinny, which I’m editing right now. But when I plugged Matt’s phone in to take the photo off, I saw all the other photos he had on his phone.

I think he wins the award for taking the most awkward, bad angle, weird photos of me. Here are some:

So, point proven. My husband loves taking hideous pictures of me. On the flip side, he’s also taken some fun ones.

If you haven’t been on a segway before, there are tours just about everywhere there is a big city. They are so much fun! I had a blast.

Now I’m off to do stuff. What? I don’t know yet but stuff. After all, it’s the last day of the weekend so I gotta be productive

Just at home watching movies tonight. So far I’ve watched Harsh Times starring Christian Bale. I’ve seen it a couple of times previous to today so it wasn’t super exciting but one of the better choices on Netflix.

Thinking of renting The Fighter or Blue Valentine… not sure which. Neither seem super happy so maybe I’ll pass and go for Dumb and Dumber?

The Ghost with the Most

Beetlejuice is my all time favorite movies. Hands down, no other competitor. I have loved it since I was a kid. I used to play the tape soundtrack over and over and over when I was in my room. To this day, I still love it. I love it so much that I am thinking of having a Beetlejuice-themed birthday party for Matt and I.

I need ideas! And while I’m brainstorming, I’ll just share some random stuff with you

And when I was a kid, one part I really thought was “scary” was when Otho decides to bring back Adam & Barbara so everyone can “see” the ghosts in human form…

My love for this movie has instilled a deep, irrefutable love for Michael Keaton, Catherine O’Hara, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Winona Ryder, and Jeffrey Jones. No matter what these people do now, I still love them! Especially Michael, Catherine & Alec!

Here’s a photo of Miss Argentina (“If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn’t have had my little accident”). She’s minor in the film but a classic Burton-type character. She would be a good, relatively easy to create Halloween costume!

And then when I was looking at Beetlejuice toys on Amazon, I found these really neat little action figures! I want them all I wouldn’t even open them but you know I want them!! They are around $50 each, though, so I doubt that will be happening any time soon! Check out the one of the guy who smoked too many cigarettes (“Tryin’ to quit, myself!”):

So funny! They also have classic Beetlejuice, Lydia (in her signature red wedding dress) as well as Otho & the Beetlejuice snake. I can’t get over how funny these are and how much I want ‘em!

Another favorite are Barbara and Adam as their monster version of themselves. (When Juno tells them they need to be scary):

If you’ve seen the movie, you know how dead-on these little action figures are! I was thinking (before I saw the price of them) that they could be the toppers of mini-cakes and there could be one mini-cake per table at the party. But now that they’re $50 each (or more), I’ll have to come up with something else. There are other Beetlejuice figurines out there that are pretty cheap, so I could do all Beetlejuice? The other characters mixed in would be funnier, though.

Or I could do ONE big Beetlejuice cake with just black and white decorations? What do you think? Check out this Beetlejuice cake I found online:
