Mmm, now that’s what I call breakfast! This morning I woke up and decided I wanted something other than cereal or a Clif Bar. Sometimes you need change, right?! I went downstairs, started a pot of coffee and decided Sunday morning was a perfect morning for Strawberry-topped Multi-Grain Waffles with Sugar Free Syrup. Yum.
While I was cutting up the strawberries I toasted the waffles:
Unbelievably, I finished with the strawberries before the waffles were done! That gave me time to snap some pre-breakfast pictures of my mini-feast.
The waffles were so warm and toasty when they came out; I just knew they were going to be crisp and delicious! I topped them with fresh strawberries and sugar free breakfast syrup. The mixture? Delicious.
It was so good and definitely a nice change of pace from the stuff I normally eat! After eating it I calculated the calories: 140 for the 2 waffles, about 100 calories for the fresh strawberries, and 20 calories for the sugar free breakfast syrup. Total: 260 calories. And it was filling and delicious!
It got me thinking.. I wonder what the worst breakfasts out there are? I Googled.
- General Mills’ Reese’s Puffs. It has more sugar than an actual peanut butter cup! Awful!
- Krispy Kreme Powdered Cake Doughnut. If you eat this two times a week, that equates to 3 pounds gained in a year!
- Starbucks Blueberry Scone. This scone has 17 grams of sugar! That’s twice the amount of sugar in a chocolate doughnut! Whoa.
- Jack in the Box Sausage Croissant. 39 grams of fat, 580 calories, and 13 grams of saturated fat topped with 4 grams saturated fat. Enough said.
- Jamba Juice Ideal Meal Chunky Strawberry. Although it claims to be an ideal meal, it’s got 590 calories! The sugary smoothie base and granola topping ruins it’s chances.
- Arby’s Sausage Gravy Biscuit. Just eat a bag of salt instead. Just kidding. But seriously, this meal 4,699 grams of sodium.. seriously!
- Cinnabon Regular Caramel Pecanbun. This should be called dessert because it certainly isn’t breakfast! With 1,100 calories and 56 grams of fat, it is even bad for dessert!
Wow. I feel bad eating an extra-fully loaded yogurt bowl some mornings but seeing that some people actually eat these things for breakfast.. wow! By 9am you could’ve already consumed 1,000 calories?! That’s insane.
So what is your favorite breakfast?
