I woke up this morning to Vinny sleeping in Matt’s dirty clothes.
That’s also Matt’s closet, as you can see by the pit of junk at the bottom. Also that would be a basket of his clothes I folded for him a couple of weeks ago that he hasn’t put away yet. I’d be annoyed if I hadn’t slowly added a few of my own items to that basket, too ![]()
Anyway. I couldn’t fault Vinny for getting out of bed because it was hot last night and apparently stinky undershirts cool you down. Who knew?
After work I ran 5 miles at the gym, and I felt like ass for about 45 minutes afterwards. I told a friend (via Twitter) about my run and she said that it was good.. for me. Considering the longest distance that I’ve run in a year was 7 miles, I think she’s right!
5 miles for me is 15 miles for a runner!
My knee hurt a lot afterwards, per the usual. I took 3 breaks, each 30 seconds long, but I paused the machine so the time also stopped. I felt slow today.
My total mileage for the day is 7 miles, since Sera and I walked 2 miles throughout the day.
After running it was time to make dinner! I use this dressing as a marinade:
It’s best on turkey breast but believe it or not it worked on flank steaks, too
Matt and I felt like we really needed meat tonight (ever have a mood like that?) so I made steaks, green salad topped with Feta cheese and croutons (too lazy to cut up veggies) and steamed broccoli. It was very good.
Today was my first day back to “being good” after taking the weekend off. It felt good and I didn’t even get that starving between meals. I did, however, eat 5 RF Ritz around 2:45pm. Not the best energy snack but it made my stomach stop growling and held me over until post-run. I need to find a non-refrigerated snack around 100-200 calories for the afternoons. Z bars are too sweet so any suggestions?
Now I’m off to give Matt a back massage. My lower back is killing me today so I am going to give him one then ask him to give me one!! Ahh, my tricks
What is your pre-run snack?
