Random Photographs, Part I

FenceThis picture is of the old white picket fences that divides our front yard from our neighbors front yard. There are also a bunch of pink and purple flowers growing through the fence, so it makes beautiful photographs. This one, however, is of the last two posts which I found aesthetically pleasing for reasons I don’t even know myself. But it just looked neat so I snapped it, using a 1.4 f-stop to blur out the background.

lights

These are the *terrible* lights in our master bathroom. The color (Behr’s bleached denim) is great, but the lights are ancient. We just haven’t got around to picking new lights out. They get soo hot, too, that when I am putting my make up on I have to turn them off or else I’ll sweat. True story. They do have a “movie-star dressing room” kind of feel but they also have a cheap 80′s feel too. This pic is taken because I was working on trying to focus on one object that is the few of a row. More f-stop work.

cake

I took this picture a couple of months ago before I really started to try and learn about our camera. One of my best friends, Brooke, was throwing her sister-in-law a bridal shower and they had this Juicy Couture cake specially made. It was really cute. Left before they cut it but I imagine it being tasty. I like Juicy Couture–my sister gives me Juicy gifts quite often. Never bought any of it for myself, though.

Youve put a lot of work in to f-stop. It's showing really well. The light one looks really tricky, good work.

Do you use auto focus or manual focus when doing f-stops? Does it matter? I find it really hard to do stuff you've done in the first two photos.

I use manual focus when screwing around with f-stops. I think it matters on my camera because with auto it doesn't allow you to change many settings but I am not 100% on that one.
